Hard work and discipline breeds ego!
We live in an age of entitlement where we, the young generation- both millennials and Gen Z have become mollycoddled, fragile and spoiled who hasn’t lived a day in hardship.
However, from my personal experience I found hard work and discipline is just the other side of the coin of laziness. Both are extremes! I mean people become addicted to work. Heck we even coined the word: workaholoic. People become arrogant and the hubris gained from so-called hard work and discipline brings them a false and inflated sense of entitlement. I mean there was even a lady who needed medical and professional care after she got addicted to Fitbit and “Gotta” had to have her 10,000 steps every single day!!!
The following is extracted from my tweets:
Hardwork and discipline is important but breeds ego. Love, passion and curiosity always defeats teeth-cleanching, stubborn, egoistical hard-working discipline every single time.
Victory becomes pyrrhic. You end up with regrets on your deathbed as you are constantly on hamster-wheel chasing the “It” — whatever it might be as you are never content.
Imagine you want to climb Mount Everest. If you do so just to prove to the world how much “better” you are than your fellow human being then it is a sorryass ‘Why’ to have. But if you love climbing, fascinated by it and treat the entire expedition as a puzzle, then you will go far.
